The battery is the heart of every electric bike—and like all components, it won’t last forever. But how do you know when it’s time to replace one? Here are the key signs:
1. Noticeably Reduced Range
If your e-bike used to go 40 km per charge but now struggles to reach 20 km, it’s a clear sign the battery capacity has declined. Gradual loss is normal, but sharp drops mean replacement is near.
2. Longer Charging Time
A healthy battery charges at a consistent speed. If it suddenly takes much longer to charge—or never fully reaches 100%—the cells may be deteriorating.
3. Voltage Drops Under Load
When riding uphill or accelerating, a weak battery may cause the motor to cut out due to sudden voltage drops. This indicates the battery can’t deliver stable power anymore.
4. Physical Changes
Swelling, leakage, or unusual heat during charging/discharging are red flags. Such batteries are not only inefficient but also unsafe.
5. Age and Usage History
Even if performance still seems “okay,” batteries over 3–4 years old or those stored improperly (fully drained for long periods) usually need replacing to ensure safety and reliability.
At Hebei Leisuo Technology, we use high-quality lithium cells and advanced battery management systems (BMS) to extend lifespan and ensure safety. For OEM/ODM partners, we provide flexible battery options (capacity, voltage, cell brand) to meet both budget-sensitive and high-performance markets.
If your customers are asking about replacement cycles, our team can provide professional advice—and supply spare batteries or upgraded packs to support your business.
